Calesh trip

Go around on a horse drawn carriage after you bargain and agree on the price first. It should be no more than £5 or 50 Egyptian pounds and that is for a full tour of Luxor that lasts one hour. Try and find a healthy looking horse because not all of them are well treated unfortunately.Ferry across the Nile to the West bank: It takes 10 minutes and it shouldn’t cost more than £1(10 Egyptian).

Valley of the Kings and the West bank

You absolutely must do this trip!Most companies will arrange a tour for you.Choose from Valley of the Kings,Valley of the Queens,Valley of the Nobles,Valley of the Workers,Deir el Bahari,Rammasseum, Habu Temple etc.For any of these three and taken that  it includes a qualified,English speaking guide,air condition in the transport to and from the hotel,and all admission costs you will pay something like £20 or 200 Egyptian.Maximum duration is 4 hours and any of the trips can be arranged for a specific temple or tomb.

Balloon Trip

This trip is a beautiful opportunity to watch the sun rise over the Nile and the valley of the Kings/Queens.It is an hour trip and costs no more than 400 Egyptian or £40.  The same trip will cost up to £80 through a tour company and you end up being in the same balloon as those who booked it with a local company!

Camel riding

If you like the local way,then do this trip and you will have lots of fun riding a temperamental camel!The trip to the West bank,an hour on a camel and a trip back should cost £4 or 40 Egyptian.

Karnak

Karnak is the largest temple in the world and the great thing is that you can visit in the day and at night!At day it is wonderful.You can see an enormous area built and added to by many Pharaohs.At night there is a sound and light show taking place that is definitely worthy of a visit if you are interested in seeing what it must have been like in those years.To visit day or night takes approx two hours.

A small tip so as to save money on these excursions is to go through a local tour company (for example 'Jolly's travel') because they are up to 50% cheaper for the same trips that tour companies or hotels arrange and also the quality of service is better.
